Seven Deadly Sins

PRIDE : "The proud peacock ruffles its royal feathers"

Internationally renowned jewelry designer  Stephen Webster  has done it again.

This time with a set of cocktail rings representing the seven deadly sins; 

Pride, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony and Sloth. 
The set was created a couple of years back, but I just came across them the other day!

Their prices range from £15,000 to £98,000 and there are only 7 editions of each ring.  

AKA the chances of me getting one are...... let's say "slim".

These creations are far too beautiful to be considered ordinary dining-room additions.

He managed to build a completely unique look for each one of the sins -- creatively utilizing specific color schemes and symbols in order to represent each sin accurately.

Supercolour

I have recently stumbled upon a beautiful French illustrator/designer Clémentine.  She is the owner and creator of the art brand Blule, and creates unbelievably darling watercolor paintings for her excited customers.  As she puts it: "Blule is my brand for everything Illustration. It's kind of my superhero mask." And I must admit, of all her works her superhero series is easily my favorite.  She successfully portrays these hard-working BAMFs in the most unsuspecting media -- watercolor.  But she does not rid them of their power or strength by using such a sheer and delicate instrument.

Bursting with Life

A hidden star in the dark world of deviantART, Micko-Vic is a light that anyone would want to follow.  Unfortunately elusive, I found it hard to research any real information on this mystery man (or woman).  What I've found is that Vic is an artist from Serbia who has studied culinary arts for a hobby (perhaps shedding light on his fantastic ability with a palette knife).  His distinct style is eye-catching to say the least with it's vibrant colors, bold strokes and dazzling sceneries.  His talent effectively captures the life in the bustling streets he paints, leaving the audience wanting more but being satisfied at the same time.

This blog started by Italian art-student Bianca Luini has been one of my favorite escapes in the past few weeks.  Luini finds beautiful fashion-related photographs and pairs them with (shockingly compatible) photographs of anything and everything in the world.  Whether it be a piece of nature, a man made building or a stray object, she successfully finds two shots that work delightfully well together to create a single comprehensive piece.

Oh Grey's you've done it again.

If you know me, you know that I am one of the most loyal Grey's Anatomy fans in the world.  I have followed this series since I was a pre-teen, all the way up to the latest episode which aired 03/06/14.  And although I could go into the details of this season-changing episode, I will refrain and get straight to the point of this blog post;  

THE MUSIC.

Grey's Anatomy is famous for picking up cover bands and less-known musical geniuses and making them huge via their show.

Remember Ingrid Michaelson's The Chain and The Weepies World Spins Madly On?*

The show also immortalized Keane's Somewhere Only We Know and Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars by using them as exceptionally placed soundtracks within a riveting story-line.  We all know that once you tie an emotion to a song, the song will never be the same again...

We've seen countless success stories emerge from this show, and the latest episode delivers some more. These are brand new songs from rising artists, so we're going to have to overlook the pathetic and painfully unartistic videos.

Drip back down the thread of time.

Chino Otsuka is a talented photographer who was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan (Holler!) before moving (and now residing) in London.  In this photo series "Imagine Finding Me", she cleverly manipulates old photographs from her pasts by adding her present imagine within them.  By doing so, she is able to create new images in which her old self and new self live together; just like time-travelling.  

"The digital process becomes a tool, almost like a time machine, as I'm embarking on the journey to where I once belonged and at the same time becoming a tourist in my own history."

The project reminds me of having a sort of guardian angel.  But in this case, you go back and guide yourself to grow into the person you are now. Her amazing attention to detail: noise, shadow, exposure etc. really helps the photographs look completely authentic.

Melting the World

Sunga Park, South Korean designer and illustrator creates these lovely watercolor landscapes of various cities across the world including London, Paris, Busan, Istanbul, venice and Oxford.  These paintings are stunning in numerous manners; obviously aesthetically brilliant but also in a more resounding way.  One looks at each of these pieces and feels a lost memory, something everyone can relate to.  Something you wish you could remember perfectly, but is hazy with a few lines of details that you cannot shake.  The creation of a memory is a beautiful thing in and of it self, but I feel that Park truly captures these moments on paper.  I wish she could do a time-lapse of making these pieces, and truly save the movement and flow of a memory.
