Bursting with Life

A hidden star in the dark world of deviantART, Micko-Vic is a light that anyone would want to follow.  Unfortunately elusive, I found it hard to research any real information on this mystery man (or woman).  What I've found is that Vic is an artist from Serbia who has studied culinary arts for a hobby (perhaps shedding light on his fantastic ability with a palette knife).  His distinct style is eye-catching to say the least with it's vibrant colors, bold strokes and dazzling sceneries.  His talent effectively captures the life in the bustling streets he paints, leaving the audience wanting more but being satisfied at the same time.

WISF

"This blog is about fashion and everything that inspires it, such as art, design, nature, photography & many more. I like to pick beautiful fashion related pictures and match them with photos that I find related to them for different reasons, for instance colours, shapes, sensations, concept."

This blog started by Italian art-student Bianca Luini has been one of my favorite escapes in the past few weeks.  Luini finds beautiful fashion-related photographs and pairs them with (shockingly compatible) photographs of anything and everything in the world.  Whether it be a piece of nature, a man made building or a stray object, she successfully finds two shots that work delightfully well together to create a single comprehensive piece.

to the moon

Art thou pale for weariness

Of climbing heaven and gazing on the earth,

Wandering companionless

Among the stars that have a different birth,

And ever changing, like a Joyless eye

That finds no object worth its constancy?

Stretch & Expand

"London-based artist Michael James Talbot creates beautiful sculptures of elongated women inspired by Greek mythology and Venetian masquerades."

These statues are actually quite tall, some even taller than 6 feet!  I would love to see them in person, to really sense their weight and presence in the room.  The length combined with the slender frame of the structure adds an interesting contrast between delicacy and balance.  I also love the color and the murkiness of the pieces, making them seem antique, fragile and ancient.

"Talbot creates his captivating pieces by molding clay and casting each sculpture in bronze. He then proceeds to finish with chemical patination, adding a new sense of character to the already expressive figures. The artist says, "The human form gives me an endless source of inspiration. The subtlest of movements and expressions can be captured in the sculpture to portray a myriad of emotions and convey tension, drama, fluidity and grace. No other subject has this richness of emotional and spiritual content or the capacity to convey such a broad and interesting narrative.""

Yanina

Yanina Couture Fall/Winter 2013-14 Show
Paris Couture Fashion Week

"PARIS - Yulia Yanina incorporated a leaf motif in her Fall 2013 Paris Couture Fashion Week collection, which was present in a bulk of the looks. She also used fur embellishments and ethnic headgear that came off as a cloche-like style statement on top of her ladylike pencil skirts, sculpted peplum waists, and houndstooth, which rounded off in a Russian 40s ambiance."

I was sitting in a small cafe in Florence, Italy when I look up at their mini-tv screen to see the Paris Fashion show streaming.  This line caught my eye above all the rest.
The wonderful use of the leaf-structure.
Simple, cool, stylish.

Set Sail

"Polish artist Justyna Kopania utilizes her skilled hand at painting to produce stunning portraits of ships at sea."

Here are a few paintings from her Marine paintings series; a collection of oil paintings.  She successfully adds depth and texture into her paintings by not holding back on her paints.  She uses her strokes to move the painting and the audience can see this clearly.

Makes you want to reach out and touch the painting
Fall into it.   Fall away.
