The Power of Empathy

This powerful short helps us understand the difference between "empathy" and "sympathy".  These words often get misused and miscommunicated in our daily lives.  The animation encompasses the two words in a simple, clear manner and allows the audience to truly understand (and enjoy) the power of empathy as opposed to sympathy.

"Dr Brené Brown reminds us that we can only create a genuine empathic connection if we are brave enough to really get in touch with our own fragilities."

Voice: Dr Brené Brown

Tonight you belong to me

Okay.  So I usually don't post "cute" videos and "fad" youtube clips onto this blog.
But this video is an exception, due to the fact that I have pressed the replay button probably 89 times in the last two weeks.

This blog has become a treasure chest of things that I find beautiful, and this deserves to be on here.  God bless this 親子.

Enjoy The Lennon Sister's "Tonight You Belong To Me"
Covered by Benjamin J. Ames and his 4 year old daughter.

Just a Kiss

The Metro St James Cafe
"is a classic, relaxed bistro combining the best of Parisian and New York café culture with Sydney’s natural beauty and urban chic.

Housed in a heritage-listed sandstone building behind St James Station in leafy Hyde Park, the MSJ’s restrained and quasi-industrial style pays homage to the building’s history and makes the most of its unique location."

And here's the best part!

For the month of June between the hours of 9-11am, you can pay for you coffee with....
A KISS!

That's right: This small cafe in Sydney is "bringing romance back" by
offering an alternative to paying with cash.  Show them a kiss with your loved one and
you will get your coffee free of charge!!  Definitely drop by if you have a chance!!!

Let your imagination run free!

"I asked a six year old what my movie should be about, and this is what he told me."

Bianca Giaever

An adorable and very well made video portraying a kid's idea of what a movies should be.
Bianca captures every "um" and "oh" in the most creative fashion.
She truly brings the story to life -- I wish I could be the kid narrating!

This extremely fun video emphasizes the pureness of a child's' imagination.

BE passionate joyful euphoric intense angry present ALIVE

"The inspiration for this book came to me one afternoon as I watched my son, Hudson, playing with his toy bus. I was trying to keep pace with his three-year-old mind as he got deeper and deeper into a fantasy involving nothing more than a yellow plastic box and armless figurines.

What happens to this enthusiasm, this ability to be wholly present in the moment?

Why are these pure moments of passion so often replaced with cynicism, boredom, and indifference?

Shortly after playing “bus”, I attended an extraordinary dance performance, and I knew I had found my collaborators. Dancers are storytellers. They’re trained to capture passion with their bodies. The often create a fantasy world or offer us a deeper look into familiar settings. They bring to life what we feel but what most of us, lacking their artistry and athleticism, are unable to express physically. I spent three years shooting dancers around the country, and I was humbled by their enthusiasm for their craft.

These photographs communicate my dreams for them more powerfully than words: Relish moments large and small, recognize the beauty around you, and be alive!

Take a break.

I just finished my Senior Thesis and could not appreciate photographer Glazastik Finch's photos any more than right now.  These adorable children made my day that much brighter.  I hope you appreciate them as much as I did!!  Almost Winter Break 2012.

Photo Booth

My very first "product review"
I encourage everyone to get the INCREDIBOOTH app on their iphone/ipods/ipads.
Super fun, my friends and I had a ball taking millions of photos.

It is quite annoying that they don't preview each style, but I guess it's kind of fun to
be surprised with the different effects.

You got the vintage, the black and white, the color.
It's fun.
Trust.

Pop it like it's hot?

NOW INTO: Detachable Collars
             (See right: Vintage -- it's a joke)

But there's nothing funny about these classy collars.
Great little accessory for your outfit.

Daily Prints

Time for something adorable, no?
Kevin Van Aelst gives us fingerprints made from everyday objects.
The detail is absurd, and yet it still has a fun feel to it!!
I think a lot of you will recognize his "Apple Earth" piece. (photo above)
