Claude Monet

I went to the Foundation Beyler Museum and was lucky enough to see original works by Monet, Picasso, and Cezanne.  Not the hugest fan of Picasso, never have been...  Cezanne: Love his watercolors more than his other paintings, but still am a fan.  Love Monet.  This Cathedral painting was absolutely stunning.  This photo does not do it justice at all.  The pinks and purples in the painting were brilliant.  I just stood there and stared.  I wish I could have it in my room....

Officially my favorite Monet

Claude Monet (French pronunciation: [klod mɔnɛ]), born Oscar Claude Monet (14 November 1840 – 5 December 1926), was a founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting.

The Rouen Cathedral series captures the façade of the cathedral at different times of the day and year, and reflects changes in its appearance under different lighting conditions. The Rouen Cathedral paintings, more than thirty in all, were made in 1892 and 1893, then reworked in Monet’s studio in 1894.
